While the Cardinals were losing to the San Francisco Giants in the National League championship series last year, Stephen Piscotty was at home in Pleasanton, Calif., watching on television. But, as a top Cardinals minor leaguer, he had considerable interest in the outcome and, as an East Bay native, he didn’t have much love for the Giants anyway. He was an Oakland Athletics fan, especially of a big first baseman named Mark McGwire.
Piscotty got his first up-close-and-personal look at this Cardinals-Giants rivalry Monday night at Busch Stadium as the teams finally clashed in the Cardinals’ 118th game of the season.
