JUPITER, Fla.•_ Fireballer Jordan Hicks was switched out of a scheduled group of throwers into the non-throwing group Friday during the third day of Cardinals’ pitchers-catcher workouts. “I didn’t even know about it until I checked the board about an hour ago,” said Hicks, who confirmed he was not dealing with injury.
Manager Mike Shildt explained he was just giving Hicks _ and Alex Reyes, for that matter _ an extra day before they throw their next bullpen sessions.
“Nothing outside of that,” Shildt said. “It really just sets (Hicks) up a little better for the Grapefruit League games (which begin next Saturday).
