PHOENIX •_ Aledmys Diaz, an All-Star and .300 hitter as a rookie last year, has become the second Cardinals regular from that team to find himself at Class AAA Memphis.
Diaz was optioned to Memphis on Wednesday and infielder Alex Mejia was purchased from that club. Diaz left with a .260 average and who had misplayed a ball in the field in the 10th inning of Tuesday’s loss. Mejia, who began the year in Class AA Springfield, has hit .303 over his last nine games.
Mejia will be here in time for the game Wednesday.
