The Cardinals still trail the Rockies, but St. Louis shortstop Jhonny Peralta's solo home run in the bottom of the fourth gave the team its first run of the day.
Peralta battled to a 3-2 count off Colorado pitcher Jorge De La Rosa. Peralta took the next pitch 432 feet into dead center field.
It was Peralta's 16th homer of the season. The Cardinals trail the Rockies 3-1 going into the top of the fifth.

Colorado Rockies slugger Nolan Arenado cranked a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to extend his team's lead over the Cardinals.
