Many prospects in the system have been overshadowed by the quick development of Robby Fabbri, one of those is Ivan Barbashev, who was supposed to go in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft but fell to the St. Louis Blues, as he was selected in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
This season saw Barbashev make his second straight training camp, but was also the second straight year that the Russian born forward did not make the team. However, unlike last season where he headed back to his junior team in Moncton, Barbashev went to Chicago to begin his first season in the AHL.
