Drone Defence: Golfer Rory McIlroy Used Anti-Drone Technology On Wedding Day

Golfer Rory McIlory wanted everything to be perfect, peaceful and private when he exchanged vows with his now wife, Erica Stoll, at Ashford Castle in Ireland on Saturday. He understandably didn’t want any camera-equipped drones to disrupt the couple’s special day, so he took lengths to employ extra security, according to executives from Drone Defence.

They told the Irish Independent that Drone Defence’s anti-drone technology — developed for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — was used at the event. The system can detect drones that enter the controlled airspace.

“The drones are either taken under control by our special technology or they are disabled by the use of a deployed net,” Drone Defence executive Liam Brady told the publication.
