Swope Park Rangers defender Jacob VanCompernolle has been named to the USL Team of the Week after a dominant performance at center back in the Rangers’ 2-1 win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday night.
VanCompernolle marshaled a defense that only allowed three shots on target all game as SPR claimed their second consecutive win to open the season. The 22-year-old is the second Rangers player to receive Team of the Week recognition this season, after Kevin Oliveira earned the same honor last week.
VanCompernolle, a Dallas, Texas native, will return to his home state this weekend as the Rangers take on San Antonio FC in their home opener on Saturday, April 9.
