Oh how the mighty have fallen. Sporting Kansas City (9-6-6, 33 points) are in full collapse as they’ve plummeted from first place in the Western Conference all the way down to fifth place (the spot that would see them on the road in the knockout round of the playoffs). The Dynamo aren’t faring any better. They currently sit in ninth place (7-8-6, 27 points) and have also basically collapsed.
The thing the teams have in common, it’s mostly been downhill since they met each other in a 3-2 thriller on June 23rd. Sporting won that game but it was their only win in the last seven games (1-4-2).
