MLS SuperDraft: Sporting Kansas City selects David Greczek

With the 14th pick in the 3rd Round of the MLS Superdraft, Sporting Kansas City selected goalkeeper David Greczek out of Rutgers on Tuesday.

This was the only pick Sporting KC had in the third or fourth rounds, as they had traded their fourth round pick to the Portland Timbers.

Greczek was a four-year starter at Rutgers, where he amassed 372 career saves to lead the NCAA Division I. He had a 1.72 goals against average rating for his career as he started all four years for the Scarlet Knights.

Sporting Kansas City already have three goalkeepers on their roster with Tim Melia, Andrew Dykstra and Adrian Zendejas, so it’s more likely that Greczek will be targeted to be a signing for the Swope Park Rangers, who currently do not have any keepers on their roster.
