USM two-way standout Taylor Braley signs with Miami Marlins

Taylor Braley is leaving Southern Miss.

The Golden Eagles' two-way standout announced Wednesday via Instagram that he'll sign with the Miami Marlins, who drafted him in the sixth round of last week's MLB Draft.

Braley finished 2017 with a 7-2 record on the pitcher’s mound with a 3.40 earned run average. He struck out 78 over 82 innings, while walking just 22. Braley also hit .313 with 17 home runs as the Golden Eagles’ primary third baseman.

He was drafted as a pitcher by the Marlins. The 179th overall pick contains a slot value of $253,800, but no financial details have been released.
