Braley, Burdeaux blast USM to 9-4 win

The chatter all offseason has surrounded the potential potency of Southern Miss’ bats.

In the season opener, the Golden Eagles lived up to the hype, putting Northeastern away 9-4 on nine hits, including three home runs Friday at Pete Taylor Park. Dylan Burdeaux and Taylor Braley inflicted the bulk of the damage against the Huskies.

Braley, a former Oak Grove star and junior third baseman, hit two home runs and drove in three runs, while Burdeaux also homered and collected four runs batted in. Storme Cooper drove in a run on a hit and Burdeaux scored on a wild pitch.
