Jeff Bower knows what it takes to be a successful football coach at Southern Miss.
The Golden Eagle legend who led the Black and Gold to 10 bowl games and four Conference USA Championships in 12 seasons also knows Jay Hopson. And Bower is confident the future is bright for both the program and newly appointed head coach.
Hopson, who was named the 21st football coach in Southern Miss history late Saturday, spent three seasons as defensive backs coach under Bower as well as three seasons as his defensive coordinator.
“He’s the type of coach the players are going to work with and work hard for,” Bower said Sunday.
