TAMPA (March 25, 2024) – The University of South Florida's John Montes (Toa Alto, Puerto Rico) has been named the American Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Montes batted .400 (8-for-20) with two walks, a double, two homers, six runs scored and eight RBI over five games last week. Over three games against Memphis, the senior batted .500 (6-for-12) with two home runs, including a grand slam, and eight RBI to help lead South Florida to a series win as conference play began.
Montes homered in back-to-back games against Memphis, the second leaving the ballpark as a grand slam on Saturday in the eighth inning of a 9-5 win for the Bulls.
