'Filter Bandit' robs eighth bank, is considered armed and dangerous, says FBI

Eight holdups, six banks, four cities, one year. That's the latest tally for a serial bank robber the FBI has dubbed the "Filter Bandit."

Authorities say the robber, who typically sports a dust filter mask along with dark-colored pants and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, struck again Thursday — this time at a SunTrust Bank in Coral Springs.

Armed with a weapon, he demanded money from a bank employee about 9:10 a.m., FBI Special Agent Michael D. Leverock said. Cash was taken, but the amount was not released.

Customers were in the bank, 1890 N. University Drive, at the time of the robbery, Leverock said.
