PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 5, 2016)— Ana Roman Dominguez capped off an impressive freshman season, earning American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors, the conference announced Thursday.
Dominguez was 12-5 in her first season as a Bull and was a perfect 3-0 in conference play. She saw most of her playing time at the No. 3 spot, also winning two matches at the No. 1 position. The freshman strung together a five-match win streak from March 2 to March 18. She is the first USF player to earn American Freshman of the Year honors. Loreto Alonso-Martinez was named the conference player of the year in 2014, making Dominguez the second women’s player to earn a major conference honor.
