Storms roll across South Florida

Keep an umbrella handy, as showers and storms have soaked much of the region over the past hour - and could continue to do so through the afternoon.

Better yet, try to stay indoors, as the storms could produce lightning, hail, gusty winds and tornadoes, the National Weather Service said in a special statement.

South Florida's Thursday forecast calls for partly sunny skies with highs in the mid-80s, lows in the mid-70s and a 60 percent chance of showers and storms.

The rain chance eases to 30 percent on Friday.
