South Carolina’s Lorenzo Nunez to transfer, play quarterback elsewhere

South Carolina redshirt sophomore Lorenzo Nunez will transfer, coach Will Muschamp announced Sunday.

Muschamp said Nunez wanted to transfer to a school where he could play quarterback after he was converted to wide receiver during the offseason.

“I’m disappointed,” Muschamp told reporters. “I thought he could help our football team moving forward. But I want him to be happy. He’s done a lot for South Carolina. We’re trying to help him right now.”

Last season as a freshman, Nunez started two games at quarterback and went 32 of 52 for 376 yards and three touchdowns. Nunez also had 59 rushing attempts for 375 yards and two scores.
