Muschamp’s 1st class might be better than expected

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Recruiting top high school football players to any school is challenging. Doing it in the SEC, where your National Signing Day haul can be ranked in the national top 20 but also in the bottom half of your conference, is even more so. Now imagine having to compete for that talent with just weeks to put together your class when other schools have had years.

That’s the challenge Will Muschamp has faced. He inherits a South Carolina program that appears to have severely depleted talent compared to its recent glory years, making an immediate transfusion of potential playmakers on both sides of the ball essential.
