Gamecocks add Towson's Shingler to Frank Martin's basketball staff

COLUMBIA — Bruce Shingler was formally named on Tuesday as South Carolina’s new assistant men’s basketball coach, filling the spot vacated by Lamont Evans’ departure for Oklahoma State.

Shingler recently finished his fourth campaign as an assistant at Towson, which won a program-best 25 games this past season. He also formerly worked with USC head coach Frank Martin at Kansas State, where Shingler served as administrative assistant.

“There is a mutual familiarity with Bruce from our time together at K-State,” Martin said in a statement. “He is a former high school teacher and basketball coach that fits our model for player development.
