That sound you heard around 10:15 this morning was the sound of Gamecocks women’s basketball fans everywhere letting out a sigh of relief. A’ja Wilson ended up leaving the game late in the 4th quarter of #5 South Carolina’s 81-62 win over Florida yesterday after landing awkwardly on the foot of Gators forward Haley Lorenzen. Fortunately, after initial evaluations today, the injury doesn’t sound to be as serious as it did when it first occurred.
That doesn’t exactly mean that Wilson won’t miss any time at all: the team welcomes Georgia to the CLA on Thursday night, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see her held out for precautionary reasons.
