South Carolina at Furman, game recap: Gamecocks lose to Paladins 2-1

One step forward, many steps back.

If you're into high-scoring games, this was not the one for you.

South Carolina got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Gene Cone led off with a triple, then came home on a sac fly from DC Arendas.

The lead was short-lived, though, because Furman tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Carter Grote started things off by getting hit by a pitch, Landon Kay singled with one out, and Chris Ohmstede followed with a base hit of his own to get Grote home.
