Troy placed four players on the Preseason All-Sun Belt first team while rival South Alabama had two.
The preseason team is voted on by the league's 12 head coaches and a media representative from each school.

For the Trojans, quarterback Brandon Silvers, wide receiver Emanuel Thompson, offensive lineman Steven Rowzee and defensive tackle Baron Poole were named to the first team. Running back Jordan Chunn, wide receiver Deondre Douglas, offensive lineman Deontae Crumitie, cornerback Kamryn Melton and safety Kris Weatherspoon were named to the second team.
