With top running back Xavier Johnson knocked out of Thursday night's game against Troy in the first quarter due to a head injury, the Jaguars struggled to run the ball consistently in the second half.
That led to easy opportunities for a speed-rushing Troy defensive line. The Trojans (6-1, 4-0 Sun Belt) sacked Jaguars quarterback Dallas Davis six times in a 28-21 victory at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in the annual "Battle for the Belt."
Johnson ran for two early touchdowns, but left the game and did not return after taking a hard hit on a play in which he went in motion and South Alabama was called for a false start.
