South Alabama DB Bobby Flott making progress in recovery from knee injury

South Alabama cornerback Bobby Flott could return by the start of the 2017 season despite a serious knee injury suffered in the spring, Jaguars coach Joey Jones told AL.com on Wednesday.

Flott, a rising sophomore from Mobile, suffered a torn ACL in March and underwent surgery soon after. He's healing quickly, however, and there remains a possibility he could play in the Jaguars' Sept. 2 season-opener against Ole Miss.

"That would be huge," Jones said. "We don't have a lot of experience at that position."

With former cornerback Jeremy Reaves having moved to safety and 2016 senior Quinton Dent having graduated, Flott was ticketed to start this season at one cornerback position.
