It wasn't easy, but Mobile now has a 21st century confetti policy

University of South Alabama supporters chafing at how long it's taking for city leaders to ponder a $10 million stadium funding proposal might consider this: It took a month to approve a pair of ordinances outlawing plastic confetti at Mardi Gras.

The delay doesn't seem to be the work of any sinister conspiracy, or of incompetence. There's been no rumor about lobbyists for Big Plastic twisting council arms. Consultants for the Mylar Council haven't been seen skulking through the corridors of power.

Sometimes the wheels just take a little while to turn, even in life or death matters like what kind of crap you can throw at Mardi Gras without getting arrested.
