Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that manager Roger Schmidt has been relieved of his duties following a troubling run of form.
A 6-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday proved to be the final straw for the under-fire coach.
Prior to that, he had overseen a 2-0 home defeat to Mainz and a 4-2 reversal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
With their European adventure seemingly set to come to an end at the last 16 stage, and with their league standing slipping, Leverkusen have decided to act now.
