Cameroon make Bassogog bid after Moukandjo abdication

Christian Bassogog’s inclusion in Cameroon’s squad to face Malawi in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier appears to be an impulsive reaction from the Indomitable Lions after this weekend’s international retirement of Benjamin Moukandjo.

Perhaps no African nation has as much difficulty in getting all of their best players on the pitch at the same time as Cameroon.

Since the 2014 World Cup, an extensive list of the nation’s top stars have all called time on their international career temporarily, or permanently retired prematurely from Indomitable Lions duty.
