Three-star QB Austin Upshaw flips commitment from Memphis to SMU

SMU has added another quarterback to its arsenal.

The Mustangs notched a verbal commitment from La Porte signal-caller Austin Upshaw on Wednesday morning, according to a report from 247Sports.

The three-star prospect flipped his pledge from Memphis. He also held an offer from Army.

Upshaw replaces Lake Travis product Charlie Brewer, who flipped from SMU to Baylor earlier this week.

At 6-foot-1, 188 pounds, Upshaw is ranked as the No. 49 dual-threat quarterback in the country and No. 257 overall prospect in the state, per 247Sports Composite.

SMU now has 15 verbal commits in its 2017 class.
