The five biggest storylines sure to shape SMU's 2017 season

Will Ben Hicks make strides in his sophomore season?

The quarterback struggled last season after being thrust into the starting job in the middle of the opener. Hicks threw for 2,930 yards, 19 touchdowns and 15 interceptions as a redshirt freshman. But he believes he has a deeper understanding of the offense and the college game now with 11 starts under his belt. And he looks more athletic in practices after losing 15 pounds. It remains to be seen how that translates into game action.
