The American Athletic Conference media day on Tuesday signifies the unofficial start to head coach Chad Morris' third year at SMU. The conference's gathering in Rhode Island means that training camp is near and games a short distance behind that.
Morris enters the season with a 7-17 record in his first two seasons. It's not near the kind of winning he was accustomed to during his successful Texas high school football coaching career, or even as the offensive coordinator at Clemson. And SMU is entering its fifth season since a stretch of four bowl appearances in as many years.
