The ongoing matchup of wide receiver Courtland Sutton and cornerback Jordan Wyatt has been one of the best to watch at SMU practices. Sutton is receiving preseason All-American votes from organization after organization. While Wyatt does not have that same national respect, he's developed into SMU's best cover man. The redshirt junior has six interceptions in two seasons and led the American Conference with four forced fumbles in 2016.
So the two go up against each other on nearly every down. The two get physical with each other, jockeying for position as a pass approaches their location. Sometimes Sutton tries to beat Wyatt with speed rather than strength.
