UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Connecticut women's basketball team celebrated its record-tying 90th consecutive victory Tuesday.
The significance of keeping the streak alive against No. 20 South Florida was stunningly obvious. The Huskies set a program record for largest margin of victory over a ranked team, 102-37.
"They looked like a team that was on a mission to do something that was really important to them," coach Geno Auriemma said. "I told them in the locker room that was as good a 20 minutes of basketball as any of them have ever been a part of."
Some 1,600 miles away, SMU suffered its first home loss Wednesday, ending a seven-game winning streak at Moody Coliseum.
