The American Conference basketball tournament will move to Fort Worth from 2020-2022, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The move is a convenient one for SMU fans. The tournament in recent years has alternated between Hartford and Orlando, the latter serving as the 2018 host. Playing across the Metroplex in Fort Worth will make it much easier for Mustang supporters to show out in force as SMU vies for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The tournament will be held at Fort Worth's currently-under construction Dickies Arena. The 14,000-seat arena will open in 2019.
