Seahawks Michael Bennett takes the field as team opens training camp

Seahawks general manager John Schneider said Thursday he anticipated defensive lineman Michael Bennett to show up for training camp on time despite his stated desire for a new contract.

And with the opening of camp nearing, that indeed appears to be the case.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garfolo reported Saturday that Bennett is “in town” as camp begins.

Practice begins at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

Bennett has not had a practice with the Seahawks since the end of last season. He did not attend any of the team’s voluntary off-season program and then attended a mandatory mini-camp in June but did not take part in practices due to an ankle injury.
