3 Players The Seahawks Must Avoid In The First Round Of The 2016 NFL Draft

The Seattle Seahawks hold the No. 26 overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft after a season in which they just missed making it back to the Super Bowl. A playoff appearance next year is a real possibility, and anything less will be a major disappointment. However, drafting a bust could prevent the Seahawks from taking a step forward in 2016. Here are three players the Seahawks need to avoid in the first round:

3. Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor

Billings would be a strong fit in the Seahawks' defense and he's definitely worth the team's No. 25 overall pick. He'd even fill a need, especially with the loss of Brandon Mebane in free agency. However, the Seahawks have bigger that they need to address. While taking Billings (or any first round DT) wouldn't be a terrible pick, it's not the right one for the Seahawks.

2. Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame

The re-signing of Jermaine Kearse means the Seahawks likely won't spend their first rounder on a WR. While Fuller is talented and has the speed the Seahawks love, the team doesn't need to spend another high pick on a WR. It's time for Seattle to let Paul Richardson, Tyler Lockett, Kearse and Doug Baldwin handle every at WR. The Seahawks don't need to add another player to that mix. 1. Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State

Apple has risen up draft boards in the weeks leading up to the draft. He fits the Seahawks' ideal corner as a tall, athletic player with long arms. Apple should be a good fit in Seattle's defense and they need another CB to go with Richard Sherman and Jeremy Lane. Apple would help fill that need, but the Seahawks have bigger needs to address. The team is desperate for offensive line help and must spend a few draft picks on the line. That should include the team's first round pick and there will be players worth taking. While Apple wouldn't be a terrible pick and might already be gone anyway, the Seahawks need to spend their first round pick on the offensive line.
