With just three games left on their spring slate, the Mariners are facing some questions in their rotation after left-hander Drew Smyly was scratched from his final spring training start on Friday following a bullpen session on Tuesday.
"He didn't feel great coming out of his bullpen," manager Scott Servais told reporters Wednesday, according to The (Tacoma) News Tribune. "Just a little soggy. So we're trying to get a feel for where he's at."
That's not welcome news for M's fans. The 27-year-old Smyly is being counted upon to be a major piece of Seattle's retooled rotation after being acquired from Tampa Bay in a January trade, teaming with James Paxton to give the Mariners two quality left-handed options.
