Report: Seattle Mariners send down C Mike Zunino

SEATTLE - Jack Zduriencik's final move as general manager of the Seattle Mariners was one many fans thought was long overdue: optioning catcher Mike Zunino to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

The news, which has yet to be confirmed by the club, was first reported by 710 ESPN Seattle radio's Shannon Drayer. Drayer wrote that minor league catcher John Hicks will be promoted to take the M's open roster spot.

It's likely to be a short stay for Zunino in Tacoma, where the Rainiers have just 11 games remaining in their 2015 season. The 24-year-old will likely rejoin the Mariners during September call-ups.
