DETROIT — Most of his teammates had dispensed of their gear and were either eating a meal or showering and getting ready to head back to the hotel when Nelson Cruz appeared in the clubhouse, still in uniform and carrying his bat with a terse look on his face.
After a 1-for-6 performance that included striking out twice – once with a runner on second – and hitting into two costly double plays, hurting scoring chances, Cruz went directly into the video room after the game to go over his failures over and over to try and find out what’s been happening over the past six games.
