BALTIMORE — Lower back discomfort kept Nelson Cruz out of the starting lineup for a second straight game vs. the Orioles. Manager Scott Servais had hoped Cruz would play on Wednesday night, but then decided to give him one more day to rest the back.
“Nellie feels much better,” Servais said. “But in talking to our medical staff, we thought it was best to give him an extra day. It’s tough not putting him in the lineup. He does feel better and it’s moving in the right direction.”
Cruz first felt some back spasms on Tuesday morning.
