SAN FRANCISCO – Santa Clara women's tennis began the 2016-17 season on Thursday at the University of San Francisco's Battle in the Bay Classic. Seniors Daniella Silva and Nabila Farah represented the Broncos in the competition at the California Tennis Club.
Silva started the tournament with a decisive, upset victory over No. 4 seed Devin Chypyha of Arizona, 6-0; 6-2. The senior will play in the quarterfinal round against the winner of the Maayan Sela (Pacific) and Joselyn M. Treyes Albarracin (San Francisco) on Friday at 1 p.m. PT.
