Goalie Martin Jones made 24 saves and the Sharks struck twice on the power play for a 3-1 win over Columbus at SAP Arena on Thursday.
Jones flirted with his first shutout of the season and 14th of his career before Columbus’ Scott Hartnell beat San Jose defenseman Justin Braun to a rebound to score at 17:10 of the third.
Tomas Hertl scored his third goal of the season at 10:39 of the third period in what turned out to be the game-winner. The tip-in front came 1:26 into a tripping penalty on Columbus defenseman Jack Johnson.
