There was no playoff hockey for the San Jose Sharks this season, but one of their development affiliates brought home a championship on Sunday night.
The Allen Americans of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) defeated the South Carolina Stingrays 6-1 in Game 7 to claim the Kelly Cup.
Allen was led by the ECHL’s leading scorer Chad Costello who scored two goals and added an assist in the deciding game. Costello led the ECHL with 41 goals and 84 assists during the regular season, while adding nine goals and 19 assists during the Americans’ championship run.
