Former San Jose Sharks’ forward Tommy Wingels announced his retirement on Thursday. The 2008 sixth-round pick posted a video on his current Swiss league team Geneve-Servette HC’s Twitter account:
“I just want to say hello, and let you guys know, playing in Switzerland, playing in front of you guys, playing with GSHC was special because of you guys,” Wingels says referring to his time in the Swiss League. “The passion, the energy, the excitement that you guys brought to the games, that’s truly what makes playing for Servette special. Form the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you from me, and my family, you guys made the end of my hockey career as special as could be.
