Connor McDavid missed 37 games this season, but had 48 points in the 45 games he did play, making him the only rookie to average more than a point per game.
McDavid's closest competition in average points is the Blackhawks' Artemi Panarin, who had 77 in 80 games played. He benefitted greatly from linemate Patrick Kane. Panarin, while technically an NHL rookie, is 24 years old and has played professional hockey in Russia for a number of seasons.
