It’s a rough night in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — The Stanley Cup Finals rematch didn’t go any better for the Sharks than the postseason series did.

Though San Jose took a two-goal lead into the third period Thursday, the Sharks could not hold off Pittsburgh — which got goals from Evgeni Malkin, Scott Wilson and Patric Hornqvist in a 7-minute, 15-second span to prevail 3-2.

“This league is really a race to three goals, that’s pretty much how it works, and we couldn’t get the third goal,” said head coach Peter DeBoer, whose Sharks lost the Finals to Pittsburgh in six games last season.
