RECAP: Quakes fall to Timbers on the road after going a man down

PORTLAND, Ore. – The San Jose Earthquakes fell to the Portland Timbers 2-0 on Friday night at Avaya Stadium.

Consecutive yellow cards to midfielder Darwin Ceren in the 36th and 37th minute left the Earthquakes a man down for the remainder of the match. Despite the man disadvantage for nearly an hour, the Quakes surrendered just one goal in 90 minutes before a second was tallied in stoppage time as they pushed for an equalizer. Goalkeeper David Bingham made a season-high six saves during the match.

The Earthquakes return home to face the SF Deltas in the Fourth Round of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.
