One of the casualties of the lockout this year was the annual meet-up of the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics during the regular season, the so-called “Bay Bridge Series.”
They’ve tried to re-brand it in recent years to give it a sense of value higher than a good time (look, a shiny trophy!), but it doesn’t need that. The games are a draw on their own, so it kind of sucks that it got relegated to spring training this year. Another casualty of the unnecessary lockout.
One of the time-honored traditions in my family growing up was attending rivalry games.
