Under normal circumstances, Jake Peavy would prefer to be in spring training right now. But these are not normal circumstances.
Beside the ongoing fallout from a famous investment scandal last summer, Peavy is reportedly dealing with a divorce served to him just after the Giants’ playoff run ended in the fall — and dedicated to being a dad during that development.
“It hurts not to be in spring training. I know that day is coming, but right now being a dad is absolutely No. 1,” Peavy told ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick. “There’s no way in a million years that I could leave my boys at this time.
