ATLANTA – Giants third baseman Matt Duffy exited Monday’s game in the sixth inning after getting struck on the left hand by a pitch.
Duffy briefly remained in the game after getting checked by Giants head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner. But Kelby Tomlinson entered on a double-switch to play third base in the bottom of the inning.

Duffy was struck by a 96 mph fastball from Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz, who was dominating a tired lineup. The Braves knocked out Jeff Samardzija after five innings – his shortest start as a Giant – and led 6-1 in the sixth.
