Pablo Sandoval plays Eduardo Nuñez’s position, and it’s no secret Nuñez could be dealt by the Giants before the July 31 trade deadline.
If one thing leads to another — and that’s a big if — Sandoval could be playing third base for the Giants if he proves he’s worthy in his two-week minor-league tryout.
“He deserves to be back,” Nuñez said after the Giants beat the Padres 5-4 in 12 innings at AT&T Park on Saturday. “He did a lot of good things for this organization in the past. I’m very happy for him.
